A
real GEM. Located 7 miles east of Americus, GA on Hwy 280. Gravel
pads (some concrete). The lakeview sites are set up for motorhomes
to pull into with a nice view of the "lake". (I would
call it a pond, but it's theirs so they can call it what they
want). Quiet country setting out in the boonies with a 27 hole
golf course. (See Golf below). The lakeview sites are not level
because the ground slopes toward the "lake". All in all,
a great place to come and spend a week or two. Passport America
rate is honored for every day of your stay so it is also a very
inexpensive park to stay at.

This park is very nice. It's away
from the interstate so there's not a lot of drop ins. We have a nice "lake"
front view from the window of our motorhome. There's approx 50
sites and would be a nice place to hold rallies. The setting
is quiet. There's geese and turtles swimming in the lake/pond
and on a calm day you can see the fish swimming around too.
We've also seen squirrels. (That's for Lady) There's no pool or playground so
it's not a popular place for kids. There is a rec center and a
community fire pit area, again great for rallies. I would rate this very high (an 8)
based on what I like or need. There is a bathhouse and
shower area but since I don't need that I haven't checked them
out. There's very little traffic noise
but town is only 6 miles away (and a Super Wal-Mart).

I love it here. Lots of
geese and turtles to bark at. They say there's an alligator in the
lake, but I didn't see it. He must have been scared of me and
stayed at the far end. |

Local
Restaurants We Visited |
| La
Hacienda |
Barely
edible Mexican food with poor service. Avoid it. |
|
| Pat's
Place |
Supposedly
good Pizza that has good reviews on Yahoo. I found it to
be just "decent" and not something I would
recommend. |

| Forsythe
1889 Bar & Grill |
Good
food but small portions. Slow service. |

|
| Captain
D's |
Typical
Captain D's with VERY slow service. Seems to be normal
for this town. |
|
| Ryan's |
Typical
Ryan's Buffet. Mediocre food and a price to match. |

The golf course here
is actually three nine hole courses. Ditches, Waters and Mounds.
Most of the greens are in poor condition and unpredictable putting
will leave you with lots of three putts. I recommend when you hit
the green, call it a two putt and move on (unless you hit it
stiff). This will lower the frustration level. The
course has some challenging holes and some strange holes. If you walk the course, it's $10 for all day, add
$7.50 for each nine holes if you use a cart. |
