We just visited a park that was built new in 2006. Here's some
thoughts for any aspiring RV Park owners/developers. WHY would
you lay out the sites pointing East/West? This ensures all day
sun for ALL the sites, meaning no shade on the patio side at any
time of the day. In this day of BIG rigs, why would you make all
your sites only 60 feet in length? Especially in this particular
park, there was a LOT of wasted space and a little more
forethought could have created a park with nice long pull thrus
for travelers. This also creates a problem maneuvering in a park
like this because people have to park their toads and trucks
sideways which makes them stick out into the road. And then the
park claims to be "BIG RIG FRIENDLY". This is
not rocket science and it is not the 1960's. Big rigs are...well..BIG.
It is common for a motorhome and toad to be 65 feet. We're at 64
feet including the trailer and still could only fit in ONE site
in this entire park and only because it was a corner back-in.
And another thought, the placement of trees. This new park put
new trees in the middle of the sites, RIGHT where the slides
would be. One day when the trees get bigger this will be a real
problem because the sites are already so narrow. AND, with the
park laid out east/west, the trees will absolutely block
satellite when they get tall enough. These are just a few things
you need to think about if you decide for some crazy reason to
build an RV Park.
